This week we have been working with committees.
What do committees do?
What do people bring to committees that may not happen in business meetings? (our people posters)?
What do you think is the most effective way of selecting committee members?
Give your ideas for how to effectively manage a committee?
Your responses are due by Tuesday, September 8, 2009 before class. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Committees are groups that organize an event. They gather materials, obtain facilities and get approval from higher persons when needed.
ReplyDeletePeople can bring a lot more character to a committee meeting rather than a business for it is not as formal. Committee meetings are where ideas are brought up and voted on, but each individual can contribute a little character, reflecting their personalities.
I think the most effective way to select committee members is through volunteers, or choosing people that you know are going to get the work done. Each individual will bring new ideas for the committee, so everyone's input is valued.
You can manage a committee by assigning the members certain tasks. The members selected for each task are responsible to finish their assignment on time. The Chairman or the person who overlooks the committee can unformally meet with the members to keep up to date with the latest events, and make sure everything that is a priority is being completed.

Committees are a group of people that plan and event, gather materials get a location for event if needed.
ReplyDeletePeople can bring sometimes more to a committee than what they can in a meeting. On a committee people can talk about different ideas than they can in a meeting since meetings are set up for business.
The most effective way to select a committee I feel is through people in the meeting volunteering their time to the committee.
An effective way to manage a committee is by assigning people in the committee to a specifc area that needs to be done, and checking up on them to make sure that everything is getting done that needs to get done in the committee.

Committees are groups of people that get together to create ideas and work to get something acomplished.
ReplyDeletePeople bring lots of creativity and variety to committees. Also, in committees people can actually get up and do things and show different varietys of ideas which can't be accomplished in committees.
I think the best way to select committee members is to have people volunteer. I think this because usually people volunteer for things they have interet in so they would be more likely to put forth a greater effort.
I think that the most effective way to manage a committee is to assign people to different tasks that need to be done. I think that by doing that committees would run effective and also if each person is given a specific task they will be much more efficent.

-Committees are groups of members who are responsible to plan out events in an organizd fashion and to the best of thier abilities to get what needs to be done, done.
ReplyDelete-People can bring more individual ideas to a committee than a a business meeting. It is less formal, therfore everyone on the committee can throw any ideas they have out on the table, while getting business done.
-I believe the most effective way to select a committee is to have new and experienced members who would like to dedicate thier time and ideas to the committee to get things done efficiently.
-An effective wat to manage a committee is to work as a team to get everything done. The chairman may have to assign a certain committee member to get a job done. The committee should work together and set a time limit when things need to be done and who does what job.

-Special group of people assigned to do a certain task

- For what the committee is assigned to do they must make certain arrangements

People in a committee bring many different leadership traits and ideas. In a business meeting sometimes not all people get to give their idea and feel like they need to sit back. In a committee the people that sit back might come out because there isn't as many people and may feel like they have a bigger responsibility.
I think the best way to elect people to sit on a committee is first ask for volunteers. If no one wants to volunteer the president elects the members that may not have as many responsibilities already and then the members that would be the best at what ever it is.
I think the best way to manage a committee is make sure that everyone gets along. Another way to manage a committee is to make sure that the work is done as soon as possible and have fun doing it. Lastly when managing a committee having everyone on the same page so there is no confusion so the job can get done quick and effectively.
